Frank Set To Succeed Lai Mohammed As APC Spokesman

Crystal clear news updates.
… Fashakin, Igbokwe Also In Race

Following the appointment and confirmation of National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed as a Minister of the Federal Republic, the party is set to appoint another official who will serve as its mouthpiece in the coming days.
To this end, CRYSTAL NEWS gathered that contrary to rumours being bandied around that
the position will be retained by the Southwest in the principle of zoning, the party leadership has agreed that it should be based on hierarchical structure.
Going by this arrangement, the incumbent Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank, is set to assume the role left by  Mohammed.
Frank, who hails from Bayelsa State, has been serving as Mohammed’s deputy since June 13,2014 when the APC constituted its National Working Committee (NWC).
However, in a chat with CRYSTAL NEWS, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees who spoke on condition of anonymity  said some of the party leaders are not comfortable with the choice of Frank, who is a staunch ally of Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
He also said that  Frank may have incurred the wrath of some leaders in the party due to some statements he made in the past.
According to him, in June, Timi Frank publicly called for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie- Oyegun, over the crisis that rocked the National Assembly due to leadership tussle.
He also recalled that earlier this month, Frank wrote a letter to the Senate urging it not to confirm the appointment of Babatunde Fowler as the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for assuming duty without being confirmed by the Senate.
Fowler, who is believed to be a godson of a National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in August while the Senate was on recess.
To this end, he said some leaders are already scheming and lobbying President Buhari for the emergence of former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), Rotimi Fashakin, as Mohammed’s successor.
CRYSTAL NEWS also gathered that some notable leaders in the party are also rooting for Joe Igbokwe, the incumbent Lagos State Publicity Secretary as Lai Mohammed’s likely successor.
