Supporters Of PDP And APC Clash As Court Denies Flag Amachree Bail

Embattled former chairman of Asari/Toru local government area in Rivers State Ojukaye Flag Amachree has been denied bail by a Port Harcourt high court.

The APC chieftain facing a two count charge of conspiracy and murder and had applied for bail on health ground but when the bail ruling was due Yesterday, justice Margret Okpara declined that the claim of ill health by the accused person was not an acceptable reason to warrant bail in a capital offence.

However justice Okpara issued an express order for the personal physician of Flag Amachree to be allowed access to attend to him while he remains in prison custody.

The trial judge also reserved 21st and 22nd June for the commencement of trial and promise to fast track the hearing.

You will recall that Ojukaye Flag Amachree was arrested by the Police based on petition written by Tubo Tamuno-dick.

Our Correspondent Ezebunwo Clifford Omachi gathered that the court Witnessed a rowdy session immediately after Ojukaye Flag Amachree was refused bail.

Supporters of the Rivers State Government and the APC chieftain made a show of strength which made other people in the court including the judicial officers to scamper for safety, the court later reconvened after the Reinforcement of security by the Rivers State Police command and there after Ojukaye Flag Amachree was driven away under tight security escort.
