Gunmen Kills 17 In Rivers Community Invasion

Report says unknown gunmen have invaded Aluu and Omagwa communities of Ikwerre local government area and killed about 17 people including two security personnel.

Report says the gunmen suspected to be cultists carried out the action at about 8:00 on Friday night.

Residence told our Correspondent that the attack took place in Omuokiri, Omuoada, Umueke and Umuochiolu villages of Aluu as well as Omagwa.

Residents of Aluu who pleaded anonymity said they are now living in fear over possibility of reprisal attacks. They are now calling on security agencies to take measures to safeguard lives and property in Aluu and Omagwa communities.

Meanwhile some students in Omagwa said cultists killed two military personnel in Omagwa. They said the cultists killed a soldier and one naval officer when the military men exchange gunfire with them as they made escape after the attack in Aluu.

When contacted the public relations officer of the Rivers State Police Command Ahmed Muhammed Refuse to confirm or deny the killings in Aluu and Omagwa communities.
