Hadiza Umar, Head, Corporate affairs of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has revealed that the Federal Government has appointed Dr IIssa Pantami, a specialist in Information and Communication Technology(ICT), as the new Director-General of NITDA.

According to the statement, issued in Abuja on Tuesday, the new D-G, who will be taking over from Vincent Olatunji, the acting D-G, is an Associate Professor of Computer Information System at the Islamic University of Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

NITDA’s new boss is an accomplished ICT expert from Gombe and graduated from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi. He bagged his B.Sc, M.Sc Computer Science, MBA (Technology) and PhD from the same University.

Pantami lectured at ATBU for more than a decade before joining Islamic University, Madina as an assistant professor of Computing Systems & Information Technology.

NITDA, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Communication, is tasked with the creation of framework for planning, research, evaluation and regulation of Information Technology practices, activities and systems in Nigeria.
