Court Begins Hearing Of Slander Case Against NIMASA Boss Dakuku Peterside

The Chief judge of Rivers of Rivers state Yaye Laminkara have decided to go ahead with the trial of the case of defamation and slander filed by the Former governor Peter Odili against APC Chieftain Dakuku Peterside.

Peter Odili is claiming N6,000,000,000.00 (six billion naira) damages against Peterside who is the director general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Councel to Peterside Rowland Otaru who is a senior advocate of Nigeria has asked the state highcourt sitting in Port Harcourt to set aside the matter against his client because he was not properly served the Rule of summon and could be denied fair hearing but in her rulling on the application, justice Laminkara held that Dakuku  Peterside properly served. The judge went ahead to award the sum of N40,000.00 as cost in favour of the accuser.

Following the development the accuser Dr. Peter Odili was cross examined before the matter was adjourn to the 23rd of February for Continuation of hearing.
