APC Groups Provide Relief Materials To Members Displaced By Political Violence In ONELGA To Mark Amaechi's birthday

Pro APC sociopolitical groups, The Progressives Forum(PF)  and Conscious Reformers Assembly (CRA)  on Friday delivered some relief materials to  persons from Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area of Rivers state that have been displaced from their communities due to  political violence which has bedeviled the LGA since the 2015 elections.

The event which is part of activities slated to mark the birthday celebration of the former Governor of Rivers state and current Minster of Transportation, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi's took place at the Rivers state party secretariat of the All Progressives Congress this Friday. The occasion was attended by a number of party chieftains including  the state party chaiChief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya (who also represented Amaechi) . Other party leaders in attendance include Chief Apolos Amadi, Irene Inimgba,  Chief Sam Sam Jaja, Hon George Feyii, Chief Sampson Abgaru and Chief Aleruchi Cookey Gam.

Addressing the crowd,  the Chairman of PF, Hon Nancy recalled how so many members of the All Progressives Congress in were killed, maimed, intimidated and their properties destroyed  in ONELGA just because they chose to follow a political ideology different from the PDP.

"with our eyes, we saw the vicious destruction of human lives and properties. We witnessed the intimidation and fears instilled in the people by the politicians, PDP and their private armies commanded by a notorious cultist."

"In one night alone, twenty people were killed in ONELGA and their heads chopped off".  She called on the Federal Government to intervene to end the killings that are still ongoing in the area.

George Feyiir reassured the affected persons that the party will continue to stand with them as all that has befallen them was as result of their commitment to the party.

Irene Inimgba on her part said she feels the pain of the ONELGA IDPs. She said today should was a sign that the party has not forgotten their situation.

The Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Peter Edika said the ONELGA APC  has sacrificed a lot in the last elections. He called on the Chibuike Amaechi and the party leadership to ensure that the people of the area are remembered in the scheme of things.

The Chairman of the planning committee on IDPs joint committee, Chris Ahiakwo said the program for the IDPs is the first among several others lined up in the  3 day celebration in honour of Amaechi.

In his speech, The Minister of Transportation  expressed his appreciation to the organizers and sponsors of the program. He thanked members of the party in ONELGA for continuing to stand with APC despite their irreplaceable human and material loss.

Feel Rivers reports that a cheque of one Million Naira and several food items were handed over to Barrister Henry Odili who received them on behalf of  of the ONELGA IDPs.  Barr Odili thanked the groups  for remembering to  reach out to the victims of political violence of ONELGA  at this time of Amaechi's birthday celebration.

The organizers say they have put in place a number of activities to celebrate the achievements and life of Chibuike Amaechi whose birthday falls on the 27th of May but was out of the country on an official assignment at that time.
