Executive Director, Marine and Operations of the Nigerian Port Authority, Dr. Sekonte Davies has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include APC in the ballot for Rivers State elections.

This was contained in a statement made public to newsmen on Thursday 14th February, 2019.

The statement reads:
It should be recalled that the Court of Appeal had earlier stayed the execution of the judgement of tower court, concerning Rivers APC Candidates. The re-affirmation of its position dispels all assertions that APC Candidates will not be on the ballot.

Speaking this morning, Dr. Sokonte Davies who is the Executive Director, Marine and Operations of the Nigerian Ports Authority,  applauded the court of appeal for re-affirming its position and has called on INEC to as a matter of superlative urgency list the APC Candidates

"I am glad that the court has effectively dispensed justice. It has insisted that it's order on the Stay of Execution subsists."
"In a democracy we all know that the judiciary  is the custodian of the rule of law and if the judiciary has affirmed and re-affirmed their position on our matter then INEC has no choice but to act accordingly" he added.

Laying emphasis on the need for INEC to obey the rule of law he said

"INEC should with immediate alacrity return the APC to the ballot. Failure to do so will be a gross violation of the terms and spirit of the law."
"Yes, INEC should not only ensure that the candidates of APC are listed on the ballot but also be given ample opportunity to solicit for votes from the electorate."

He also encouraged the APC supporters in the state to be firm and continue in their resolve to vote out bad governance

"And for our teeming supporters be rest assured that nobody will disenfranchise you. You will have an opportunity to make your choice. Together we will move Rivers State and Nigeria to the Next level."
