ISIOKPO KINGDOM CELEBRATES RESTORATION OF ELECTRICITY BY NDDC AFTER 3 YEARS OF OUTAGE

ISIOKPO KINGDOM CELEBRATES  RESTORATION OF ELECTRICITY BY NDDC AFTER 3 YEARS OF OUTAGE

STAGES A WRESTLING FESTIVAL TO MARK THE OCCASION.

Excitement rented the atmosphere yesterday in Isiokpo kingdom
, Ikwerre LGA of Rivers State, as jubilant youths, women and the elderly took to the streets to celebrate the restoration of electricity in their Kingdom through the instrumentality of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, after 3 years of gruelling power outage.

The ancient Kingdom of Isiokpo is the both traditional and political headquarters of Ikwerre LGA as it plays host to the Local Government Council Secretariat, hence, it is in the middle of economic activities and serves as the seat of power in Ikwerre LGA. Albeit, this economically and culturally rich  kingdom, suffered gross darkness occasioned by lack of power supply for 3 whole years without anyone coming to their aid, including the Local and State Government.

Moved by this sad and pitiable situation, the Prof. Braimbraifa-led management team of the NDDC initiated and completed a power project in Isiokpo to ensure the restoration of power and bring an immediate end to the long period of darkness and alleviate the pains and sufferings of the people in the area.

In total expression of joy, one of the residents of Isiokpo had this to say "We are very very happy. We want to thank Mr President for using our son, Dr. Chris Oyirinda and the NDDC to restore light in our Community. We have been in darkness for 3 years and our businesses have suffered so much. But today God has used the NDDC people to bring back our light, we are so happy. God Bless NDDC and Dr. Oyirinda for their good works in Niger Delta."

As part of events to celebrate the restoration of power in Isiokpo, the people organized a wrestling festival which according to them signals a new lease on life and the beginning of better days.

Indeed, the sincere and genuine effort of the NDDC to ensure rapid and even spread of development in all sectors in the Niger Delta, is indeed commendable and serves as a morale booster to the people of the region that the Commission is working and in safe hands.
