Hon. Victoria Nyeche Condemns Killing of Women in Hotels, Commends Police For Apprehending Alleged Suspect.

A Former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victoria Wobo Nyeche has condemned the killings of women in hotels in Rivers State.

Hon. Victoria Nyeche during a radio program on Friday monitored in Port Harcourt spoke on the need to heighten security surveillance by encouraging proper documentation in hotels, she also described the killings as unwarranted and commended security agents for apprehending the alleged suspect.

The former lawmaker, however, urged the Police to unravel the mysterious mode of killings by the suspect as she raises concern to unanswered questions about confessional statement credited to the alleged serial killer.

You will recall that the aledged serial killer was on Wednesday arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robery Squad (SARS) enroute Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

Hon. Victoria, who was a former House Committee Chairman on Women Affairs, also called on security operatives to improve surveillance across the length and breadth of the state as she urged residents to be vigilant in the course of carrying out their daily activities.

The lawmaker said there was an urgent need to have a holistic view on security in the State. ' We need to be proactive instead of reactive' she advised.

Victoria Nyeche urged residents and Civil Rights group to work with the police especially on information sharing, describing it as one of the most efficient ways to nip crime in the bud.

While urging the police to dig deep into the matter, Hon. Victoria noted that the police should also intensify efforts in prosecuting the case with a view to putting an end to these ugly trend in Rivers State.
